Dodgeball

This group lesson is temporarily not offered.

Dodgeball is a mixed indoor as well as outdoor team sport aimed at getting the other team members called ‘out’ by throwing the ball at them. The game is played with three or six balls and by two teams each consisting of six players. Each team tries to hit the other team members with the ball. Obviously, the other team tries to avoid getting hit by the ball and be called ‘out’. Dodgeball is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands and often likened to the Dutch game of ‘trefbal’. The main difference is that dodgeball is an internationally recognised team sport while trefbal is a nice school game with many different rules. Internationally, the sport is becoming increasingly popular among students. It is often played in a gym hall; the size of the court is equal to that of a volleyball court.

Dodgeball has a number of advantages over other sports: it is played all over the world by people of all ages, genders and sportive qualities.

At first sight, the game looks fairly simple, but it isn’t. There are quite some specific rules and it is a very strategic, active and dynamic game. Dodgeball is easy to learn; it is, therefore, easy to fit in as an ‘open to all’ part of an event or tournament.

(Hand) sanitiser is available.

Please note: this lesson lasts 50 minutes. In the remaining time we clean the sports equipment together.
